What is QxVDI powered by VMware Cloud Foundation?

QxVDI powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, or QxVDI powered by VCF is a fully interoperable solution that provides customers with the easiest way to build and run an SDDC private cloud for VDI solution. The solution delivered with pre-qualified hardware provided by QCT and VMware’s Cloud Foundation software.

What is SDDC?

SDDC extends the concept of virtualization, including abstraction, pooling and automation. It is the abbreviation of software- defined data center, which contains of compute virtualization, software-defined storage and network virtualization. The infrastructure is virtualized from hardware, delivered as a service through software and shares the same resource pool.

What is Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)? Why should I adopt virtualization?

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure refers to the process of running applications in a user desktop inside a virtual machine that lives on a centralized server in the data center. Desktop virtualization enhances data security, delivers consistent performance, and radically simplifies management across devices and location.

What benefits does QxVDI powered by VCF bring?

QxVDI powered by VCF delivers

  1. A turnkey SDDC solution on pre-qualified, pre-validated QCT hardware, powered by VMware Cloud Foundation software stack.
  2. Simple SDDC deployment, configuration and ongoing operations management with the VMware SDDC Manager, resulting in greater simplicity and faster time-to-value.
  3. Lifecycle management (LCM) automation
  4. Elasticity on scaling and configuration, to best align with current and future capacity requirements.
  5. Significant OpEx and CapEx benefits delivered with SDDC software capabilities and QCT’s cost-effective hardware.

What is the software stack in QxVDI powered by VCF?

The Cloud Foundation software stack includes VMware Horizon 7, NSX and SDDC Manager in the integrated SDDC system. If needed, you can also bring in another VMware software, including vRealize Operation, vRealize Log Insight, and vSphere integrated with Container to fulfill customers’ demands. When these additional components are deployed on top of VMware Cloud Foundation, the SDDC Manager will extend the lifecycle automation across the entire VMware stack.

What is the offering of QxVDI powered by VCF?

QCT provides customers with various offerings, such as storage-intensive and compute-storage-balance hardware platform. You can choose appropriate one based on your workload demand. Please refer to standard sku of QxVDI powered by VCF with https://www.qct.io/q/QxVDI-VCF. Feel free to contact us for further engagement in offering choosing.

Can the qualified server nodes be used with any of the qualified networking switches?

QxVDI powered by VCF supports on qualified hardware switches from selected switch vendors, including Cisco and Arista, to get involved in customers’ network environment.

For Top-of-Rack(ToR) switches, Cisco Nexus 9372PX/Cisco 93180YC/Arista DCS-7280SE-72-R is used to build the network between nodes, while spine switches leverage Cisco Nexus 9332PQ/ Arista 7050QX-32S-R to set up the inter-rack communication.

What are the physical scalability limits of QxVDI powered by VCF?

Customers can flexibly and dynamically scale on QCT integrated systems. Minimum starting requirement is 8 nodes, and customers can scale up incrementally per server up to 32 nodes, or scale out up to 8 physical racks.

What is the difference between QxVDI powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, QxVDI VMware Edition-OA, QxVDI VMware Edition-HC, and QxVDI VMware Edition-3D?

QCT offers QxVDI series to meet various workload demand. While QxVDI powered by VMware Cloud Foundation/ QxVDI VMware Edition-HC meet the demand for compute-intensive workloads, such as lab room, ROBO and large office. QxVDI, VMware Edition-OA is suitable for office application workload. As for QxVDI VMware Edition-3D is designed for special compute or graphic design needs.

Who should adopt QxVDI powered by VCF?

The SDDC-based integrated system is ideal for enterprises and service providers focused on greater simplicity, faster time-to-value, enhanced security and lower total cost of ownership (TCO). QxVDI powered by VCF is suitable for virtual infrastructure, virtual desktop infrastructure and private cloud environment establishment.
