SAN JOSE, March 15, 2018 -  Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a global data center solution provider, today announced a new addition to its expanding portfolio: QuantaGrid Q72D-2U. This new quad socket server is a 2U system supporting the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors and is well-suited for the following applications: high performance computing and in-memory database.  

This system supports 16 hot-swappable drives in a 2U enclosure with unprecedented server-class reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) and scalability.  The QuantaGrid Q72D-2U features 4 sockets in an ultra-dense form factor, 48 memory slots (2666 MHz DDR4 RDIMMs) with up to 6TB memory capacity, and 8 PCIe expansion slots. These expansion slots offer flexible connectivity and scalable options, such as support for Graphic Processor Units (GPU), network adapters, and SAS mezzanine cards to fit a variety of different requirements.  Redundant power supplies and fan modules for minimized downtime when running data-intensive, mission critical applications.

The QuantaGrid Q72D-2U unleashes computing performance with faster socket interconnects, 1.5x memory bandwidth and 2x peak FLOPs performance capability with the the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors.  This allows up to 112 vCPUs per server and 3.9x higher virtualized throughput compared to the previous generation Intel® Xeon® processor E5.
