QCT Enterprise 5G Network Builds a New Engine for Digital Transformation
Solution
04 Jul. 2022

5G is a game changer in many industries as it has the ability to accelerate enterprises’ digital transformation. Sensing the high expectation of private 5G networks, global data center solution provider, QCT, developed its own enterprise 5G infrastructure that integrates hardware and software to support rapid deployments, enabling AI and 5G use cases spanning smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, smart healthcare and more.

Despite the impact of the COVID pandemic on global economy, Taiwan’s 2021 GDP reached 5.58% thanks to its robust manufacturing industry. Furthermore, many smart factories in Taiwan now boast automated robotic arms, automated guided vehicles (AGV), and other innovative applications supported by cutting-edge AI and 5G technologies that have existed only in the fictional realm of movies.

Accelerating Smart Manufacturing with Wider Adoption of Enterprise 5G Networks

In collaboration with Panasonic Taiwan, QCT has deployed its OmniPOD Enterprise 5G solution at Eagle Eyes headlight assembly located in the southern part of Taiwan. With the Enterprise network infrastructure in place, operators can simply put on a pair of AR goggles to capture images at workstations, which will then be transmitted to a back-end server and sent back to the AR goggles’ screen in real-time, with previously prepared eSOP overlaid on the physical object being worked on, worker are provided with a step-by-step guide, indicating individual components as well as correct installation methods.

This collaboration serves as a great example of how enterprises can leverage an Enterprise 5G network’s eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband), URLLC (ultra-reliable low latency communications), and mMTC (massive machine-type communications) to promote a smart manufacturing revolution and enhance digital resiliency.

QCT Helps Enterprises Foster Digital Resiliency with a Private 5G Solution

Despite the great application potential of Enterprise 5G networks, many enterprises still face challenges such as data security, network compliance and reliability as they migrate to 5G, mainly due to network complexity. With this in mind, QCT developed its OmniPOD, an end-to-end Enterprise 5G solution with best-fit hardware and software that consists of OmniCore (the 5G core network), OmniRAN (the 5G new radio network comprising a base band unit, a fronthaul gateway, and a remote radio unit) and OmniView (the operations, administration and management platform).

QCT’s OmniPOD offers standalone (SA) 5G networks in the n48, n78, n79 bands, simplifying the customer’s deployment journey with its end-to-end offering while meeting their speed, flexibility, scalability, and security needs. This highly compatible and easy-to-manage solution can also be customized to fulfill different application requirements, enabling zero-touch provisioning for various 5G use cases.

QCT Enterprise 5G Solutions Realize Smart Manufacturing, Smart Agriculture and Smart Healthcare

QCT Enterprise 5G Solutions can not only enable smart manufacturing use cases, but also fulfill smart healthcare, smart agriculture, or even smart city (e.g., transportation, security, environment) requirements by connecting to a wide range of end devices such as camera, vehicle, AR goggles and game server with appropriate software, accelerating digital transformation in multiple sectors.
