QCT worked in collaboration with Quanta Arts Foundation to produce a 5G performance entitled Cloud Dating, which premiered in the Quanta Hall on December 27, 2021 as the closing act for QCT’s all-day branding event.

Cloud Dating blended technology and art into a heart-warming romance, leveraging the high-throughput and low-latency of QCT’s private 5G network equipment to enable actors to interact with each other from different locations in real-time. As the heroine met and choose between her three suitors, the audience could use a 5G phone to “switch channels” and watch the performance of different suitors, which was captured by 4k high-resolution cameras set at different angles and live-streamed through the 5G network. This disruption to the traditional form of live performances went further than that, as the audience was even invited to vote on their phone to decide which suitor would win the female lead’s heart, influencing the result of the story.

Cloud Dating is QCT’s first step into entering smart performances, where the combination of 5G, XR and arts bring about previously unimagined immersive experiences. QCT President, Mike Yang, expressed gratitude to the Quanta Arts Foundation and Fist & Cake Productions for working with QCT to make this production come to life, and declared the company’s confidence in providing high-throughput, low-latency 5G infrastructures not only for smart manufacturing and smart health care, but also for smart performances.
