Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT) Unveils Next-Generation Server Lineup Powered by Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2600 v3 Product Family
FREMONT, Calif. – September 8, 2014 – QCT, global provider of hardware to cloud datacenters, is unveiling a comprehensive lineup of next-generation products powered by the latest Intel server processor family.
The new QCT products are designed to deliver the best-available combination of performance, scalability and energy efficiency. They combine low-power, high-speed DDR4 technology, new instructions in the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 product family and higher QPI link. These new QCT servers are projected to achieve a performance increase of approximately 53 percent per watt (measured with SPECPOWER*) compared to the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v2-based QCT servers. (*Benchmark Configuration: QCT STRATOS S210-X22RQ (E5-2697v2, 16GB 1866MHz DDR3, 120Gb SSD) & QuantaGrid D51B-1U (E5-2697v3, 16GB 2133MHz DDR4, 120Gb SSD)
Product Lineup QCT is announcing a wide range of off-the-shelf products in four product lines based on the new Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v3 product family, 13 product models in total:
- QuantaGrid D51 series 1U and 2U single node servers. 1U servers include the D51B-1U, D51BP-1U, D51PS-1U and D51PC-1U models. 2U servers include the D51B-2U and D51BV-2U models
- QuantaPlex T21 and T41 series multi-node servers, including T21SR-2U (2U2N), T41S-2U (2U4N) and T41SP-2U (2U4N) models
- Rackgo X series 21-inch OCP Open Rack Solution, including F06A and F06D compute sled
- Rackgo M series based on the OCP Open Cloud Server specifications contributed by Microsoft, including the MC510 compute sled and the MS100 storage sled
These four product lines represent a wide range of off-the-shelf hardware, including conventional form factors, as well as QCT’s Rackgo X and Rackgo M. All products are based on the latest Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 product family. The Rackgo X and Rackgo M product lines are designed to the OCP standard. Rackgo X is an Open Rack inspired solution and Rackgo M is based on the Microsoft Open Cloud Server specification. These integrated rack solutions are optimized for different datacenter workloads, datacenter temperatures, power budget, cooling and maintenance requirements.
QCT is also announcing a new datacenter management software, Quanta Datacenter Manager (QDCM). Through QDCM, datacenter managers can monitor the real-time power usage and temperature at the dashboard, and manage the all or any specific server’s power consumption by setting power policies.
QDCM communicates with Intel® Node Manager firmware on the Intel® C610 chipsets in all QCT servers, which enables precise, out-of-band readings on system power consumption, thermal telemetry and compute utilization per second (CUPS) metrics. Together, QDCM and Intel® Node Manager firmware creates a Power Thermal Aware Solution (PTAS) for optimal workload placement, and improves visibility and integration between IT and facilities.
